Saturday 22nd March at the East Cliffe Pavilion, Folkestone.              Tickets £21 or £10 for under 18s and those in full time education. Disco and raffle.

Streaker Southern Area Championships

The Redoubt Sailing Club hosted the Southern Area Championships for the Streaker class of dinghy on the 18th August.  Six club boats were joined by 13 visitors, three of whom travelled from Jersey for the event.  Conditions were dry but quite testing with a good breeze and gusty.  Despite some capsizes and a few breakages the event was closely contested and enjoyed by all. 

Results (after all three races): 

1st Ian Bradley (Ouse), 2nd Jonny Shuster (Deben), 3rd John Burgoine (Tamworth)

first lady Cathie Shuster (Deben), first junior - and 4th overall - Jack Turnbull of Redoubt.

The 40th year celebrations started early with a Barn Dance in January.

RYA award for club member Mike Smailes

The RYA Awards Committee has conferred the RYA Community Award (Lifetime Commitment) on Mike Smailes, a founder member of the club. Club members are delighted and Mike and Marion went to an awards ceremony in London last November for Mike to be presented with it.

Keith Macey Takes on Training Role

Keith Macey - a senior instructor for the club has now taken over the role of Principal of the Training Establishment. This role was previously held by Mike Smailes who has now stepped down after 40 years of loyal service to the club.

AGM 2006

The AGM was held on Wednesday 15th March 2006. The new Commodore for 2006 is Ian Hodge. Members are delighted that Ian has chosen to stand as Commodore and look forward to the coming months and years with Ian at the helm.

Keith Macey is training for his senior instructor's certificate in order that he can take over from Mike Smailes as Principal of the Training Establishment at the end of the year when Mike Retires. Good luck Keith!

Sheppey Round the Island Race 2005

Club member Dave Turnbull participated in this year's Sheppey Round the Island Race in his Blaze dinghy. He came a creditable 15th out of 70 entries of dinghies and catamarans.

Mike and Wendy Dunbavin, ex-club members, came 14th in their catamaran.

Club Cycle Ride 2005

There was a cycle ride on Saturday 24th September attended by a small number of members. They cycled for 14 miles via St Mary's Bay and Ivychurch.
